Travis D. McCarter, Of Counsel
Travis D. McCarter has been practicing law as a criminal defense and personal injury attorney for fifteen years. Prior to joining Delius & McKenzie, Travis was a Senior Litigation Partner at Green, Waters Ogle & McCarter where he served as the firm’s lead trial attorney. Mr. McCarter also serves as the Public Safety Attorney for the City of Gatlinburg, where he assists Gatlinburg’s emergency services departments with a variety of matters.
Mr. McCarter is an accomplished trial lawyer, having successfully litigated cases at the state and federal level as well as Tennessee’s appellate courts. Mr. McCarter is routinely engaged by other attorneys to serve as co-counsel on complex personal injury and criminal trials due to his extensive trial experience and courtroom acumen. Mr. McCarter is one of very few attorneys who can say they have secured a verdict in excess of six figures in a civil trial, secured a verdict of not guilty in a criminal homicide trial, and successfully argued and won a case in front of the Tennessee Court of Appeals. Recently, Mr. McCarter obtained a verdict of not guilty for a religious official accused of sexual misconduct in a multi-day jury trial that obtained national media coverage.
When not practicing law, Mr. McCarter enjoys archery hunting, fishing, and attending church, dance recitals and sporting events with his wife, Anna, and their three children. Mr. McCarter serves as a consultant for the criminal justice program at Seymour High School and regularly serves as an advisor for the Sevier County High School mock trial team.
